Light is the major energy source of trees, plants, animals, humans and all living entities on earth. 
Light is essential to trees and plants which allows them to produce chlorophyll so important to our environment
and the very air we breathe.  In fact without Light plants could not survive. We are in many ways closely aligned to plants and
animals. For instance the enzyme that both humans and plants depend on for oxygen and carbon dioxide exchange is Carbonic
anhydrase - a zinc dependent enzyme.
  
Light flows through our eyes and triggers hormone production, influencing the entire complex biochemical system which
ultimately affects our being.  In fact we cannot live without light.                                                                            
The use of light therapy in medicine has a long history. The first light source used in photo medicine was natural
sunlight. In ancient Egypt, sunlight was used for medical treatments. Hypocrites described the use of sunlight
to treat various medical disorders. Although sunlight therapy had no scientific explanation at that time, the healing
power of it was clear and Roman and Arab physicians introduced light therapy into general medical use.  Down the ages Light has
been investigated in medicine.  In 1878, Edwin Babbitt published his 287 page book The Principles of Light and Colour.
He developed the Chromodisc for treating patients with specific colours and also Solar Elixirs, made by irradiating water with sunlight
and filtering it with special filters. He found that the 'sensitized' water had special healing properties - solar tinctures are still made
today and used by health conscious people and colour therapists.
In 1920 Dinshah Ghadiali developed the Spectro-Chrome system of healing, following 23 years of exhaustive scientific evaluation.
This was based on the relationship between colours and specific areas of the body. One of his most vocal supporters was the Chief
Surgeon at Philadelphia Woman's Hospital, Dr Kate Baldwin. She used Dinshah's methods for many years and is quoted as saying
"...after nearly 37 years of active hospital and private practice in medicine and surgery, I can produce quicker and more accurate
results with colours than with any or all other methods combined - and with less strain on the patient...".

   How does it work?     
Just as plant photosynthesis is stimulated by light, animal and human organisms also react to various wavelengths of light.
The wavelength of VIP Light is 480 - 3400 nm - hence it is a combination of the visible part of the electromagnetic visible
spectrum and near infrared light.
This is also referred to as polychromatic meaning many coloured as each wavelength of light is reflected as a colour. 
We can only see these different colours when light is reflected through a prism (rainbow)
The BIOPTRON electromagnetic spectrum does not contain Far Infrared or UV radiation! 
So no heat is created only stimulation of the underlying tissues.

 POLARIZATION
   The main feature of the Bioptron Light therapy is that BIOPTRON Light is polarized light: This means its waves move
   (oscillate) in parallel planes.

Polarized BIOPTRON Light is produced by the reflection
of light on a specially patented, multi-layer mirror
(Brewster’s mirror,  named after its creator). BIOPTRON Light
has a degree of polarization that reaches 95%.(see diagram ).
It appears that treatments using polarized light give good results
due to the delivery system which polarisation brings. 

   POLYCHROMY - multi wavelengths (colours)
    Another important feature is that BIOPTRON Light is a polychromatic light. This means it contains multi wavelengths (unlike
    lasers which deliver mono [single] wavelength). Bioptron emits visible light rays and some of the near infrared range. The  
    wavelengths of BIOPTRON Light ranges from 480 nm to 3,400 nm - the electromagnetic spectrum similar to that of sunlight
    without harmful UV or Infra Red rays  (Far IR rays are 1000 times longer than Visible light and are responsible for the sun's heat)
   The Bioptron Light heats the body by no more than 1 degree and does NOT cause heat within the tissues

   INCOHERENCY
   BIOPTRON Light is incoherent, or out-of phase light. This means that the light waves are not synchronized
   and the wavelengths move parallel and independent to each other to emit constant low energy, delivering each wavelength
   from one single beam. It took scientists almost ten years to create this feature based on low level laser beams
In the illustration you can see the key difference between the light
from a laser (in red) and BIOPTRON Light (yellow). Laser light is
coherent and monochromatic -  meaning laser light has a single
wavelength and single colour. The waves are in phase with each
other (coherent) and their energies unite. This results in very high
energy levels on the spot to which the laser beam is directed (the skin).
In contrast, BIOPTRON Light is incoherent. This means that every light
wave oscillates independently with its own wavelength and amplitude.
Their intensities are not united, so every light wave transmits its own
energy, which is low but constant. This produces gentle, low energy of
2.4 J/cm². making it suitable for sensitive conditions and longer sessions.

LOW ENERGY
BIOPTRON Light has a low energy density and therefore acts in a natural way. This
quantity of energy allows the light to stimulate different biological processes in an
organism in a positive way. It contains only a small amount of infra red to increase skin penetration but apart from this it is not similar to infra red units in any way as no heat is produced.  BIOSTIMULATION
:
