WHAT IS POLARISED LIGHT ?
Polarised light is defined as light waves that move in one plane only. Laser light diffuses in a similar manner but unlike BIOPTRON, it consists of only one wavelength and is know as monochromatic light, whereas BIOPTRON is polychromatic (emission of multiple wave-lengths or colours). The wavelength of BIOPTRON is between 480 - 3400 nm (nanometres).

WHAT IS BIOSTIMULATION THROUGH POLARISED LIGHT ?
BIOPTRON Light has bio-stimulative effects: when applied to the skin it stimulates light-sensitive intracellular structures and molecules. This initiates chain reactions and triggers so-called secondary responses, which are not limited to the treated area.

WHEN AND WHERE WAS THE EFFECT OF POLARISED LIGHT DISCOVERED ?
By 1966 the first lasers had been developed that could achieve a biostimulation effect on human cells. In 1981 a team of Hungarian biophysicists and doctors conducting research into the biological effects of low level laser light came up with the idea of developing a polarized light-emitting device that did not have the negative parameters of a laser. WHAT HAS TO BE OBSERVED WHILE OPERATING THE BIOPTRON?
Make sure, when the light is switched on, that the air ventilation grid is not covered in order to allow good ventilation. Always switch the lamp off at the lamp switch itself before removing the wall plug. Hold the light at a 90degree angle to the skin at 5-10 cm from the treatment area.

HOW MUCH ENERGY IS USED BY THE VIP LIGHT?

Energy densities up to approx. 10 J/cm2 per minute tend to yield stimulating effects, while energy densities over approx. 10 J/cm2 tend to yield destructive effects. With a low energy density of approx. 2.4 J/cm2, BIOPTRON VIP light is well below the destructive limit yet is strong enough to yield the necessary stimulating effects.

WHAT IS THE LIFE EXPECTATION OF THE LIGHT SOURCE?
In most cases it lasts a lifetime... The bulb may need replacing after approximately 20,000 x 6minute treatments. The lamp should be sent back to the official BIOPTRON Service Centre for replacement.

WHEN WILL I BE ABLE TO SEE THE FIRST APPLICATION RESULTS ?
Generally, this will depend on the type of problem, how long it has been there, and the age of the person. Always check with your health care professional regarding the use of Bioptron Light & Colour Therapy for your condition.

HOW DEEP DOES THE BIOPTRON LAMP PENETRATE UNDER THE SKIN ?
A four minute treatment will let the light stimulate tissue approximately 2.5 cm under the surface of the skin. The beneficial influence of the BIOPTRON light is transported much further than the area that is being treated - It is now known that the human organism transforms BIOPTRON Light into electro-chemical energy, which activates a chain of biochemical and enzymatic reactions. The human body, animals and plants cannot survive without light energy.

HOW SHOULD THE SKIN BE PREPARED BEFORE THE THERAPY ?
Clean the skin thoroughly by using a mild cleansing milk or skin cleanser before treatment so that the light won't be distracted through reflecting particles on the skin (oil, perspiration, etc). Broken skin should be disinfected before treatment. Oxy - Spray should be sprayed lightly before applying the light treatment to enhance the treatment process and again at conclusion.

CAN THE BIOPTRON PENETRATE THROUGH CLOTHING OR WOUND DRESSINGS ?
It is recommended to shine the BIOPTRON light directly onto clean bare skin. Shining the light through clothing will diminish and may even negate the effect of the therapy. With bandages and wound dressings that may reduce the penetration and effectiveness of the light, one can treat the bare skin area immediately around the dressing. This will cause a positive and rapid increase in blood supply to the wound area, as well as accelerate the body's reparative processes.

WHAT SHOULD THE DISTANCE BE BETWEEN THE SKIN AND THE LAMP?
The light should be focused at a right angle (90o) from a distance of approximately 5 cm from the skin on the area to be treated. Increase the distance to 10 cm for the BIOPTRON Pro1 and BIOPTRON 2 units. For joint treatment, one can place the light directly onto the skin. Skin temperature rises during light treatment by approximately 1degree.

HOW CAN I SUPPORT THE EFFECT OF THE BIOPTRON LAMP OPTIMALLY?
Spray a thin layer of Oxy - Spray onto the skin. Apply at beginning and conclusion of treatment. Replacement cans may be purchased from Bio-Beauty. CAN BIOPTRON BE USED ON THE EYES?
Yes. The light is absorbed via the eyes or the skin. For comfort the eyes may be closed during eye treatments but no harm will occur if they are open. The BIOPTRON Light will pass through the eyelid easily.

IS THIS LIGHT SIMILAR TO THE INFRARED LAMP?
Not at all. Whilst the spectrum of the BIOPTRON contains a fractional amount of near infrared, the wavelength of the light is much broader to incorporate the visible spectrum of 480-3400nm . There
are no thermal (heat) hazards with the BIOPTRON Light Therapy System as with Infra Red

COULD THE LIGHT CAUSE CANCER IN ANY WAY?
No! The dangerous light range for cancer is low UV at 250 nm (nanometres) and below. The BIOPTRON's lowest range is 480 nm.

WHILE APPLYING THE BIOPTRON LIGHT, CAN I DO ANYTHING WRONG?
Wrong handling only reduces the optimal effect of the BIOPTRON light. Wrong application can not lead to any health hazard! It is similar to a walk on a bright sunny day without the UV rays

MUST I CONSULT A MEDICAL DOCTOR BEFORE APPLICATION?
No, but if no notable improvement can be achieved, consult a health care practitioner

WILL I GET A TAN FROM EXPOSURE TO THE LGIHT AND COLOUR THERAPY?
No, you cannot get sunburn or a skin tan from exposure to the light as there are no UV rays present which are the rays responsible for tanning.

CAN INFANTS BE TREATED WITH THE BIOPTRON LAMP AS WELL?
Yes. It is ideal for young babies due to the non invasive nature

MAY BIOPTRON BE USED BY PEOPLE WITH HEART PACEMAKERS?
People with heart pacemakers may use the BIOPTRON light provided they don't touch the actual light unit whilst undergoing treatments. Pacemaker wearers may also utilize the BIOPTRON hands free stand during treatments.

MAY BIOPTRON BE USED BY PREGNANT WOMEN?
Pregnant women may use the light but it should not be applied to the abdominal area during pregnancy as this could stimulate the unborn baby.

CAN THE BIOPTRON LAMP BE APPLIED TOO OFTEN?
No. The local effect usually cannot be increased by applying more often or longer than prescribed. However, in some cases more frequent treatments will result in a more rapid effect as blood photo modulation is increased.

AT WHAT TIME OF THE DAY IS IT BEST TO USE THE BIOPTRON LAMP?
Morning and evening. Much more important than the time of day, is that you have time for the treatment and you can relax while applying the light therapy.

WHAT IS BIOPTRON COLOUR THERAPY?
The Colour Therapy Kit is an optional attachment and is used with the BIOPTRON Compact III or Pro1 Light Therapy units. When using the Colour lenses it is recommended that the light be positioned first, then turned on and when the desired time is reached, turned off before moving the light away. Treatment times for colour therapy are specific: Most colour programmes aim to sedate energy fields that are over-active.
